Brown wins Sask CPGA in Playoff

Dean Brown of the Royal Regina Golf Club continued a strong season with a victory over Ryan Danberg of the Elk Ridge Resort on the first hole of a playoff in the 2008 CPGA of Saskatchewan Championship sponsored by Oakcreek and Achusnet Canada.  The event was played at the Llyodminster Golf Club.  Brown and Danberg finished the 54 hole event tied at -5 (211).  Kevin Dietz from the Tor Hill Golf Club rounded out the top three at +3 (219).

The Lloydminster Golf Club proved to be a superb challenge for the CPGA Professionals from all across the province depite being pounded with heavy rains the day before the event started.  The grounds crew did a fantastic job getting the golf course in condition to play.

Host Professional Kyle Mulligan and all his staff did a wonderful job hosting the event.  This was the 24th year that Oakcreek has been the title sponsor of the CPGA of Saskatchewan Championship and Laurie Unruh was very excited to be onhand to present the winners cheques and spend the week with the pros from around the province.  Ken Rodgers of Achusnet was also onhand and was impressed with the event he helped to co-sponsor.

Danberg wins Players Series #2

Ryan Danberg of the Elk Ridge Resort won the Second installment of the CPGA of Saskatchewan Players Series held at Deer Valley Golf Club.  Ryan shot a great round of 71 on a very tough golf course.  Deer Valley's own, John Greenough finished solo second with a round of even par 72.  Rounding out the top three was newcomer Sloan Harder for Holiday Park in Saskatoon, with a round of 74.  The event was a huge success with special thanks to the two main sponsors, Callaway Golf and Tournament Sports.

The ground staff of Deer Valley should be commended on getting the golf course in condition to play, as it was heavily damaged the week prior to the event by a freak hail storm.  Host Professional Graham Coulter put on a great event and the players all look forward to returning to Deer Valley again in the near future.

36 professionals from around the province took part in the event.  The weather co-operated and the players managed to get off the course an hour before yet another thunderstorm hit the southern half of the province.  Host professional Gus Vogelsang and his team did an excellent job hosting this years event.  The Murray Golf Course, which is known as one of the best courses in the province, was in excellent condition and recieved rave reviews from the players.
